Japanese, (1807–1876)
Nagasaki painter. Born at Nagasaki. Pupil of Watanabe Kakushu; also studied Kumashiro Yuhi's paintings. In 1826 appointed kara-e mekiki; in 1854 became head of the office. In 1851 edited the Zoku Nagasaki Gajinden on order of the government. An able painter of kochoga and portraits. -- Roberts, L. Dictionary of Japanese Artists (1980)
