Edo Maruyama Shijo painter
Japanese, (1767–1813)
Marnyama painter. Born and lived in Kyoto. Pupil of Maruyama Okyo; later influenced by Korin. His work also shows traces of ukiyo-e influence. Late in his career moved to Edo, introducing the Maruyama style to the Kanto region. Eventually returned to Kyoto, where he died. Specialized in paintings of bijin and carp.
